I will watch anything and everything starring Amy Schumer – her TV show Inside Amy Schumer has some of the most hilarious skits I’ve ever seen and I can watch her movies Trainwreck and Snatched over and over again. Matt and I also saw her stand up The Leather Special in Ottawa last year (now available on Netflix) and I loved her book The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo, which made me feel all kinds of emotions and I strongly recommend.
I saw I Feel Pretty last Saturday at the O’Brien Theatre in Renfrew with my lovely cousin Em – who I can always count on when I suggest lunch at the Bakery and a movie (aren’t matinees the best?!). Needless to say, we both LOVED it. I had been so excited to see it and I knew it wouldn’t disappoint. As I sat in the theatre (eating my Glossette Raisins, nonetheless), I never felt so empowered, inspired and proud to be a woman.
The movie’s message is one we’ve been told time and time again, but somehow we still haven’t gotten through our heads – confidence comes from within and we are our own worst critics.
I may or may not be planning on seeing it again this weekend (when a movie plays two weeks in a row in Renfrew’s little theatre, you know it’s good). If you haven’t already, go see it if you get the chance!
